The Benefits of Silk

The Chinese have known for Centuries the Health Benefits of sleeping on Silk as Silk is the nearest thing to human skin known to man. Silk is also known to help calm the nervous system inducing a good nights sleep. Silk pillowcases prevent wrinkles and 'bed-head' by eliminating skin creases and maintaining your skin's optimal moisture levels.

Silk is the perfect fabric to wear as it is soft, comfortable and kind to the skin.  The temperature-regulating properties of silk will ensure that you stay warm in the winter, whilst keeping cool in the summer. And as silk is naturally non-allergenic, it won't itch or irritate, making it ideal for those of you who have sensitive skin, allergies to synthetic fabrics or who are eczema sufferers.

Caring for your Silk

To ensure your Charlotte & Co silks retain their condition simply hand or machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30°C. You'll find care instructions on each label so please check each item individually before you wash. We recommend non-biological detergents in powder or liquid form that are suitable for silk.

For hand washing, make sure soap powders are completely dissolved in the water and not sprinkled directly on to the garments which should never be left to soak. Do a small patch test on an area of the garment and wash gently at 30°C. Always wash dark colours separately. Gently squeeze out excess moisture (or delicate spin) rather than drip dry.

Dry and store silk garments away from direct sunlight, as this can bleach colour. Most silks are such easy care that creases fall away. If ironing is required, gently press on the reverse at a low temperature.
